Hiked in 2 days on the 28th and 29th.
Day 1:  Mikage Bus Stop 三ヶ木バス停 -> Mt. Yakeyama 焼山 -> Kibigara Evacuation Hut 黍殻避難小屋.
Day 2:  Kibigara Evacuation Hut 黍殻避難小屋 -> Mt.

Very scenic trails, lots of stairs, and fairly crowded. My first time sleeping in an evacuation hut, since I was cheap and didn't want to reserve an actual hut. I arrived at the hut at around 10pm on the 28th; 3 people had already been there before me and were sleeping in their sleeping bags. Since I didn't have a sleeping bag, I just lay down on a wooden bench for about 4 hours before continuing my climb at 2am the next day. The plan was to catch the sunrise at the summit of Mt. Hirugatake. Needless to say not much sleeping was done at all, but the cold kept me awake throughout the hike, for better or worse.

For a hike with so many great sights, my favorite memory was probably when I was standing on the stairs just before the summit of Mt. Hirugatake, looking down a stunning moonlit mountain landscape. The moon was so bright I could turn off my headlight and still see everything around me. Also the deer here were oddly docile. I once walked within 3 meters of a deer and it just kept standing still and staring at me. Normally in other mountains they would have run away or made some annoying high-pitched sound.
