Hiking route: Lake Okutama Bus Stop 奥多摩湖バス停 -> Mt. Sasuzawa サス沢山 -> Mt. Gozen 御前山 -> Mt. Otake 大岳山 -> Mt. Mitake 御岳山 -> Mt. Hinode 日の出山 -> Ikusabata Station 軍畑駅.
The intended destination was Mitake Station, but on my way down from Mt. Hinode, I took a wrong turn at Mt. Takamine 高峰山 and didn't realize it until it was too late. This little maneuver cost me three extra kilometers and one extra hour added to an already long hike. The trail I took mistakenly was also clearly less traveled and overgrown with grass and brush, to the point where I wasn’t sure if I was even on a real path until I spotted some trail markers.
